My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad.(Psalm 34:2)
Devotional
Of what are you the most proud? What is your boast? You will know by the things you speak about the most. Think about your last few informal conversations. What was the subject matter? I understand that when you are working or doing business of any kind that the crux of the conversation will be related to what you are doing. The question is, when you are in control of the conversation, do you make your boast in the Lord or something else? The prideful will joust with their boasting. Each will attempt to out boast the next with their exploits and achievements. However, when the conversation is about the things of God, pride is not the issue. Therefore, the humble hear it and they are glad to hear it. If anything other than the Lord is our boast, our boasting is in arrogance and as James says, “All such boasting is evil.”Daily Reading
