Title

Open Honest Speaking

Scripture
Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world…and in secret I have said nothing.”
(John 18:20)
Devotional
If honesty is the best policy, open honesty is the greatest policy. Jesus is who He was wherever he was. Whether privately speaking to the disciples or publicly teaching, He never wavered from His integrity. Jesus was, and may I add is, an open book. Wouldn’t it be great for us to live our lives with the same honest openness? That, whatever we speak we could speak to anybody, anytime. I am not talking about breaking a confidence or divulging a trust. I am talking about clear, clean speaking. We are to speak carefully and cautiously. We are to count our words and make our words count. Jesus never said anything that He regretted saying. He never spoke without meaning. I am sure that He had casual conversation: speaking of the weather or the beauty of creation. I am sure He laughed and enjoyed the fellowship of His friends and the people whom He loved. He was able to speak openly and honestly at all times because He spoke from a pure heart. Let us do the same.
