The Authority of Mankind

You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, and set him over the works of Your hands.(Hebrews 6:7)
Devotional
Of all God’s creation, there is nothing more powerful than angels. Mankind is a close second. Next to the angels, nothing has more power and authority than you and I. The heavens and the earth have been created to the glory of God and the edification of man. We have been given dominion and stewardship of creation. There is no higher honor given to mankind than this. The question then arises, "What are we doing with the authority given to us by God? How are we responding to this honor? How are we handling this glory?" I am saddened to say, for the most part, very poorly. We may have forgotten who we are in Christ. We may have relegated our God-given authority to creeping things and four-footed beasts. We may have relinquished our authority to those who reject the authority of God, and it is time to take it back.Daily Reading
