Title

What Is the Commandment?

Scripture
This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.
(2 John 1:6)
Devotional
What is that commandment? Just look at the previous verse.  It says, “That we love one another.” It just does not get any simpler than this. Love is keeping God’s commandments, and His commandment is that we love one another. Jesus summed up the entire law of God when He said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind."  This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. If we say that we love God, then we must keep His commandments, and His commandments say that we are to love each other. And if we are commanded to love each other, we have the ability to do so. Therefore, let us do so.
