When Help Cannot Be Found

Scripture
Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless.
(Psalm 60:11)
Devotional
The psalmist, obviously, in his frustration cries out for help from the one who can truly help. Have you ever been there? Have you ever had troubles that were beyond the reach of human help? You know the scenario. You have a problem. You take it to a friend and all you get is a pat on the back along with a few platitudes and clichés. Your friends mean well, but they are clueless to your needs and dilemmas. At times the wisest of counselors and the godliest of friends cannot give the guidance we need. It is at times like these we again turn with the psalmist and say, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”[1] Let us never forget: God knows and He likewise cares. He has the answer for all our quandaries. Many an answer is found directly in His Word, the Bible, the manufacturers handbook.
