Honest weights and scales are the Lord's; all the weights in the bag are His work.(Proverbs 16:11)
Devotional
Integrity in commerce, industry and community are essential to any level of success. Honesty is simply the way God does business. If honest weights and scales are the Lord's, then to whom do dishonest weights and scales belong? The answer is obvious. Doing right and always telling the truth are the simplest form of obedience to the commandments of God. They are so basic that they often appear childlike. Yet, these elementary principles are the basis of a godly civilization. It may sound insignificant, but until we learn to live by the fundamentals of the faith, we will never know the weightier matters of the ways of God. If you do not think this to be so, consider the lack of trust there is towards politicians, business and even the church. Why? It is a basis matter of truth telling. 1 John 2:21 sums it up so very well, "I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth."[16]Daily Reading
