Title

Know When To Dance

Scripture
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven
(Ecclesiastes 3:1&4b)
Devotional
We are clearly instructed, "Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another."[1] Who and what is to decide when it is appropriate to mourn and when it is appropriate to dance? First and foremost we are to yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit. As the death of a loved one calls for a time of mourning, the marriage of a friend calls for a time of dancing. We are to mourn over our sin, but rejoice when forgiven. When a dear one is mourning, we ought not be dancing. When the body of Christ is rejoicing, we ought not be mourning. It is not so much of going with the crowd as it is flowing with the Spirit. If the mind of the church is dancing, we are not to be mourning. Likewise if the church is in mourning, we are not to be dancing. "If one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it."[2]
