Scripture
Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they love him who speaks what is right.(Proverbs 16:13)
Devotional
There are few things that measure a man more than his words. The lips will sooner or later reveal the secrets of the heart. Honest, truthful, and timely speaking are the sum of righteous lips. Words of integrity will not only get you before kings, but they will cause you to find favor as well. Flattery, patronizing and the like may empress the weak minded and gullible, but these will never succeed before those of influence and strength. Righteous lips not only are pleasing to those in authority on earth, but in heaven as well. Let us never forget, "There is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God."[17] Likewise, let us ask ourselves, do those in authority delight in what we speak? Does God? We must consider our words, for they are the means by which we will find favor with both God and man.Daily Reading
